What if we made our judo known abroad? Wouldn’t it be a great thing which would allow us to get people to know Japan better? …What do hardships
matter? For any pioneer, it is not a matter of harvesting, but of sowing.– Yoshiaki (Yoshitsugu) Yamashita, circa 1887

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Posted by arnulfo on 2007/06/26

Whose woods these are I think I know,
His house is in the village though.
He will not see me stopping here,
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer,
To stop without a farmhouse near,
Between the woods and frozen lake,
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake,
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep,
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

Umbrío por la pena

Posted by arnulfo on 2007/06/26

y no me dejan bueno hueso alguno.

No podrá con la pena mi persona
circundada de penas y de cardos:
¡cuánto penar para morirse uno!

Llego con tres heridas

Posted by arnulfo on 2007/06/26

Llego con tres heridas:
la del amor,
la de la muerte,
la de la vida.

Con tres heridas viene:
la de la vida,
la del amor,
la de la muerte.

Con tres heridas yo:
la de la vida,
la de la muerte,
la del amor.

ni me da lugar el tiempo,

Cultivo Una Rosa Blanca

Posted by arnulfo on 2007/06/26

Cultivo una rosa blanca
en junio como enero
para el amigo sincero
que me da su mano franca.

Y para el cruel que me arranca
el corazón con que vivo,
cardo ni ortiga cultivo;
cultivo la rosa blanca.
